SAN FRANCISCO, CA (October 26, 2011) 12 Gallagher Lane is announcing the unveiling of the Yerba Buena Community Benefit District (YBCBD) and ClementinaCares’ (CCI) Living Wall. The event will bring San Francisco luminaries such as the iconic Former San Francisco Mayor Willie L. Brown, Jr. and Supervisor Jane Kim to help celebrate this addition to the SoMa district.
The event begins at 5:00 pm and Willie Brown will unveil the Living Wall at 6:30 pm along with ClementinaCares, the YBCBD, and local donors. Designed, grown, and assembled by Paul Kephart and Rana Creek, the wall holds various plants and flowers, attracting butterflies to the SoMa and acting as a self-sustaining, or “living,” wall. Paul Kephart’s projects include the “Living Roof” at the California Academy of Sciences, landscaping for GAP headquarters, and the “Roof Park” at the
new Transbay Terminal.
“We are so honored to have been selected for this project — the synergy between Paul Kephart’s vision and the artists we represent is kismet,” says Salon Director Derek Cabaniss. “Just as the wall will grow and flourish, its addition on our façade will play a key role in the district’s continued redevelopment.”
Kephart’s vision aligns with CCI and the YBCBD goals to add interest to SoMa, helping to beautify the area and encourage ecology and activism. This project will enhance CCI and the YBCBD’s efforts to clean, green, and make the Yerba Buena area a more robust and enlightened community.
“At ClementinaCares we strive to make our neighborhood safe and inviting to everyone. The addition of this wall will attract positive attention to our growing and changing district,” says Foster Weeks, cofounder of ClementinaCares.
