12 Gallagher Lane announces Visiting Artist Jonah Ward’s First international Exhibition

San Francisco, CA, (February 3, 2011) 12 Gallagher Lane is pleased to announce Artist Jonah Ward has been selected to be part of the extensive renovation at Esperanza, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico — An Auberge Resort. Jonah will be exhibited alongside renowned Mexican artists Yvonne Domenge and Ricardo Regazzoni in a public exhibition throughout the 17-acre resort and private residences.

Jonah creates wooden panels stamped with what could be tar like paint and printed with abstract designs. Upon closer inspection, the different wood panels—with their unique grains, colors, and textures—are scarred with burns: what is left over when Jonah drips, ladles, presses, cools, and peels molten glass off their surfaces.

These works are as much a product of Jonahʼs education as his background — born on Foster Mountain, raised on a farm on red dirt roads, and educated in a one-room schoolhouse. Through his works, the artist continues to cultivate this dialogue with nature.

“We are very excited to introduce Jonahʼs organic artwork to a new international audience,” says Gallery Director Derek Cabaniss. “We are sure he will be received with great success, because his work stands on its own and can be interpreted by all viewers.”

Jonahʼs work has been featured in California Home and Design Magazine, as well as JAL/Skyward Magazine. He was named by 7×7 Magazine in 2009 as “an artist to watch.”

Jonah Ward graduated with a BFA from California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, CA in 2006.
